Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar

November 10, 2017 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Registration starts at 7:30 AM)

This is the required seminar for those pursuing CDP certification and who qualify through the National Council of Certified Practitioners/International Council of Dementia Care Practitioners or for those who just want to enhance their dementia education. Course Goals and Objectives:

  • To provide fundamental education on dementia and dementia care.
  • To enhance the quality of life of patients/residents with dementia through education of care providers.
  • To teach communication techniques and sensitive approaches for assisting with activities of daily living.
  • Describe challenges related to caregiver stress and utilize stress reduction techniques
  • Describe behavioral/care interventions that may prevent, reduce or eliminate difficult care situations.
  • Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive and other difficult behaviors.
  • How to develop a team approach to foster sensitivity, respect and moments of joy.
  • Discuss issues of sexuality¬† and address end-of-life care.
  • Registration Information:

The tuition is $175.00 per person. This fee includes the student notebook with course content, a CDP application and certificate of completion. Snacks and light lunch provided.
